The ASKOM company was founded in 1993 as a Spolka z o.o. (limited liability company). The company profile included automated process control / production management systems based on PLC controllers and PC computers.

Initially we offered systems based on the SIMATIC family of controllers manufactured by the SIEMENS company. Gradually our offer was extended to include also controllers manufactured by GE FANUC, WAGO, BECKHOFF, SELECTRON and other companies. Our strategy consisted (and still consists) in delivering systems based on reliable controllers manufactured by world leaders, selected for the best available price/capability ratio with the Investor preferences taken into account.

After 2 years in business the company developed its own SCADA-class software for process visualization. The package has been marketed since 1995 under the asix name. Up to now over 4000 licenses have been sold. The package is used to visualize/control processes, to raise alarms, and to archive/report process data acquired in systems based on controllers supplied by various vendors. The initial DOS-based asix version equipped with its own multitasking real time monitor was in September 1996 replaced by a Windows NT version, and subsequently by Windows 95 and today Windows XP and Windows 7. Asix met with a very well reception and is a highly valued product on the Polish market. In 2010 it’s been awarded the prestigious ‘Price Performance Value Leadership Award’ granted in the category of Polish SCADA by the Frost & Sullivan global consulting company. In 1995 it won the 1st prize at the SOFTARG`95 International Fair in Katowice, then the asix3 version was honored with Gold Medal at the AUTOMATICON`98 International Fair held in Warszawa in 1998, and the asix4 version – with Gold Medal at the AUTOMATICON`2005 International Fair held in Warszawa in April 2005.

Since 1998 the asix for Windows software is equipped with a multi-language user interface.

In 2000 ASKOM process control business profile was extended to include Distributed Control Systems (DCS) like TELEPERM and PCS7 made by Siemens, and MetsoDNA made by Metso Automation. Being a Siemens partner from the very beginning of our business, we are equally open for systems of other manufacturers.

Since 2005 we have been putting more and more attention to Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES). We are accomplishing comprehensive integrated process control projects shaped according to the TIA (Totally Integrated Automation) Siemens initiative framework, in which the MES software layer is based on the SIMATIC IT system. The system integrates several functionalities: real time manufacturing execution management (MES), laboratory data management (LIMS), product lifecycle/specification management (PLM) fully compatible with the ISA95 industry standard.

ASKOM is the first company in Poland granted with the SIMATIC IT SOLUTION SPECIALIST status, which confirms the highest level of professionalism in the field of integrating manufacturing execution systems made by Siemens.
